Beste forummers,
Have fun,
jaap
Jim already registrated here, we're looking forward for some news from overseas.

I’m Jim Vander Schaaf from Portland, Maine and was contacted by your moderator Jaap Bosma and asked if I had any Dutch heritage! Actually, he wrote a very nice inquiry after finding me on my woodworking YouTube channel. He asked if I could post on this site. I am happy to do so and learn and share from that experience.
Those of you who know the language (I unfortunately have lost most of my Dutch/Friesian abilities), know that my last name means “from the woodworking plane”. So woodworking is embedded in my DNA as well as my heart and I find it very rewarding.
My ancestors on my father’s side came from Lollum, Friesland and my mother’s from Groningen. I’ve visited Lollum as has one of my daughters since we were very interested in our heritage.
I won’t go on too much about my background other than to say I was educated as Naval Architect, Marine Engineer and in Computer Science and spent a career in those field prior to retiring and returning to my first loves in woodworking and working as a yacht delivery captain.
I would appreciate learning more about the people on this forum and projects you have done and are pursuing. Please excuse my lack of Dutch – perhaps you can help me re-learn it.
Warmly,
Jim Vander Schaaf
